Discovered and apprehended almost immediately, Gillette was electrocuted at Auburn Penitentiary in March 1908. In Herkimer County, New York, in 1906, Gillette lured his pregnant sweetheart, Grace Brown, to Big Moose Lake and drowned her. The case of Chester Gillette particularly fascinated him.
